How to create External Reference Custom Fields in Halo

Background

Please follow these instructions to create the HaloPSA Custom Fields if you want to maintain the fields in HaloPSA rather than Datagate. When Customers and Sites are Synchronized with Halo, the Datagate fields will be updated with the Halo values.

Create the fields in HaloPSA

In HaloPSA, Navigate to Configuration/ Custom Objects/ Custom Fields.

Customer

Select Entity of "Client" as below

Choose New

Field Name: CustomerExternalReference

Field Label: Datagate External Reference

Hint for Field: Put in something that is relevant for your specific implementation

Populate the other fields as relevant to your organization

Press Save

Site

Change the Entity to Site:

Choose New

Field Name: SiteExternalReference

Field Label: Datagate External Reference

Type of Field: Text

Datagate allows 300 characters in this field, which is more than HaloPSA, so you don't need to specify a character limit

Hint for Field: Put in something that is relevant for your specific implementation

Populate the other fields as relevant to your organization

Press Save

Note: HaloPSA will prefix the field name with "CF".
